The 2nd Annual Bricktown Challenge is the premier fundraising event for the Town of Haverstraw PBA. The Challenge is a sprint triathlon/duathlon which includes a 1/4 mile swim from the fishing dock at Bowline Point Park followed by a 15 mile bike ride with scenic views of the Village of West Haverstraw, Garnerville, Thiells, and Stony Point. The event will conclude with a 3 mile run around Pecks Pond and Bowline Point Park with views of the majestic Hudson River.
Competitors may also choose the Duathlon option that replaces the 1/4 mile swim with a 1 mile run. The bike ride of 15 miles and the final 3 mile run is the same course as in the triathlon..

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Town of Haverstraw PBA Scholarship Fund.

The name "Bricktown Challenge" was chosen to pay homage to the history of Haverstraw and the brickmaking industry that started in 1771. The added "challenge" to the tri/duathlon is that there will be a special prize given to those competitors who choose to do the 3 mile run carrying a brick (optional - supplied upon request).

Awards will be given to the top male and female finishers in each age group and to the top three male/female first responders.

The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. Annual membership ($45) or one day membership ($12) will be required to participate in the event. For information on USA Triathlon membership go to www.USATriathlon.org

CONE DIRECTIONAL SYSTEM: All turns on the bike course are marked by a series of small (12") orange cones. Following them is essential to stay on course. If in doubt at any intersection, always follow the direction marked by the orange cones. Exit all traffic circles in the direction of the cones. Do not expect volunteers, marshalls and/or police personnel to point you in the right direction. They are on the course only for traffic control at key intersections.

The 1/4 mile swim will go off in waves of 50 swimmers per wave, in a triangular cofiguration around three large 8 ft. orange/yellow buoys. The start and finish of the swim is at the fishing dock ramp.
